The community of Atlantic Beach, Florida is mourning the death of Mickey Jo Guile, a 49-year-old man whose life was tragically cut short in a stabbing that has now resulted in a second-degree murder arrest.
According to law enforcement, officers were called to Rose Avenue near Mayport Road shortly after 9 p.m. on July 7, where they discovered Guile suffering from serious injuries inside a back bedroom. He was transported to the hospital, but despite emergency efforts, he did not survive. The heartbreaking loss quickly prompted a homicide investigation involving the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office, Atlantic Beach Police Department, and the State Attorney’s Office.
Detectives later identified Stephen Perez-Guerra, 72, as the suspect in the case. Authorities announced that Perez-Guerra was taken into custody on July 8 and charged with second-degree murder. He is currently being held in the Duval County jail. While investigators have confirmed the arrest, they have not publicly shared a motive or additional circumstances surrounding the deadly encounter.
